Our Kids  Programmes

Little Ninjas

LITTLE NINJAS

This programme is for our youngest children.

For the safety of the children see the class details to know if this class is suitable for your child.

The aim of the programme is to have fun and encourage self-confidence and socialisation.

Students are expected to learn the etiquette of karate and always be polite and respectful to others.  The training tasks are simplified to build on the natural strength and flexibility of very young children in a Child-Friendly environment of equality and fair play.

While we work with a karate syllabus framework, our focus is on strength and flexibility, which we prioritise over fighting.  We use a mixture of formal and informal structures appropriate for children of this age and concentrate on physical mobility.  Using the etiquette of karate, we encourage self-confidence and conflict avoidance.

We do not generally encourage formal competition for Little Ninjas. This will come later!

YOUNG LIONS

This programme is suitable for older children.  See the class details to know if this class is suitable for your child.

The aim of the programme is to build athletic ability (speed, strength, cardio-vascular endurance and flexibility) using Kyokushin Karate-do.  Students are expected to follow the etiquette and routines of karate and always be polite and respectful to others.

They will develop the awareness to go out into their world with confidence.  We use structured physical tasks designed to prepare students for life-long study of martial arts, or as the building blocks for Martial sports.  In this programme we focus on tai (body) and gi (technique) aspects of the syllabus.

We want to help young people become resilient to the rigours of life and resistant to bullying.  The class structure is formalised, with foundations in respect and etiquette.

We like to work with partners, with sparring within the dojo is typically based on Light or Non-Contact conventions until students are old enough.

Competition is encouraged but only if its right for the student and Instructor.
